RUN UP TO THE START OF THE SEASON

Pre season training is going well and vital warm up matches have been organised in August.

On Saturday 3rd August the seniors take a squad down to Oundle for a game. Last year we had two really close games with them and they have been reinforcing their playing strength. So a good test for us down at a very welcoming club.

The following Saturday, 10th August we have invited West Bridgford up to Burntstump for a joint training afternoon culminating in a couple of 25 minute games. Our Senior Coaching staff are keen to involve our Mini and Junior Coaches in the afternoon and you are all welcome to come along and experience at first hand coaching methods and philosophies that we want to develop throughout the whole Club. That will start at 2.00pm and you are all very welcome.

Saturday 17th sees the touring Worthing Raiders arriving at The Ron Rossin Ground as part of their own preparations for their campaign in National League 2 South, a level above The Midlands Premier. There will be some serious rugby as well as all the off field frolics associated with rugby clubs on tour. We have made this a Club Family Day where we will involve our youngsters and we can all get together after the game for a barbeque and a few beers. The bar will be open from 1.00pm so come along and enjoy an afternoon of quality rugby and escapades.

Bank Holiday weekend off for us all but the following Saturday, 31st August, with the first league just a week away we have a full on game against old NLD rivals Scunthorpe. They are a Level 4 Club and Nottingham aside are the highest ranked team in the NLD but we are hot on their tails. A ‘proper’ game of 2 forty minute halves kicking off at 2.30 which will produce some great rugby much to the benefit of both Clubs. Naturally the bar and kitchen will be open from 1.00pm and a game of this quality is sure to attract a good crowd.

The 7th September sees our first Midlands Premier League, the start of an adventure well deserved by all those involved, down at Burton kick off at 3.00pm so why not take the short hop down the A38 and be at the start of a new era of rugby at Pavs.

The first home game comes the following week against Doncaster Phoenix, a match sponsored by Trent Design & Engineering. The game kicks off at 3.00pm. Burntstump was a fortress last year and with your support that needs to continue.
