Paviors Under 12 Girls PUAP at Melbourne

Paviors Under 12 Girls has grown in numbers this season with an astounding 12 player! Paviors attend a PUAP (Pitch up and play) played at Melbourne on the 8th October 2023, we arrived with 11 girls who were ready to show the skills that they have learnt and developed over the last few weeks. Paviors were one of the biggest team there on the day and only borrowed three players from Casuals during second game, due to giving the girls a much-needed rest, after they had a very physical battle with Loughborough. The girls showed the core values of rugby throughout the day.

We played Loughborough RFC first, Paviors and Loughborough both show cased some fantastic rugby. Paviors entered the rucks strong when our players where tackled, however during the first half we were standing offish when Loughborough had possession of the ball. During the second half Paviors got stuck into Loughborough rucks and mange to turn over the ball. On several occasions. Paviors covered many meters and supported each other during the break down phases, which was the focus of Wednesday ‘s training session. The players remained respectful and polite during the game, even though tempers ran high due to some aggression from Loughborough, the referee comments on how polite our players were, maybe a little to polite.

During the second game against our host Melbourne, we again show cased the skills the player has learnt since the start of the season. After an unsettling move to some training land, where the pests where in full force, with a lot of the girls coming off the training pitch with itchy bites all over them. However, this did not seem to stop the enjoy of the game. During this game we seem to pass during the tackles instead of taking the ball to ground which meant play seem to go faster then, the first game. The girls seem to gel well with the three players from Causals, with one of our players setting up a try for one the Causals player to score. Melbourne surprised Paviors by going the for a rip of the ball instead of the tackle, which meant we lost possession a couple time during this match.

Due to an injury of an Under 16 player, on the pitch, the coaches decided not to go ahead with our game against Long Eaton. However, we are looking forward to meeting Long Eaton at home on the 22nd.

Annie completed some amazing runs when in attack. Annie showed good positioning when in the scrums and in the rucks. Annie is growing in confidence, a great achievement with this only being her second game of rugby for the girl’s section.

Daisy remained calm and positive after an altercation on the pitch. She demonstrated some superb passing to her teammates. Daisy has showed great determination to support her teammaTes on and off the pitch.

Emily did some marvellous tackles and excellent ball carrying skills. Emily made a great deal of meters when she was in possession of the ball, and always made sure she had support when gaining ground, even when multiple opposition player was hanging off over every available body part of Emily!

Evelyn played scrum half for most of our matches ensuring the ball moved away from the breakdown areas. Evelyn broke through the opposition line by picking and go. Evelyn ensured that play was progressive during both attacking and defensive. Evelyn shows the hungry for team development!

Freya was energetic throughout the whole day. Freya was committed to defending our try line, by ensure that no opposition ran over the try line without her on their back! Freya is driven rugby player who wants to develop and remain the fabulous rugby player she is!

Francesca remained positive through the day even though she wasn’t feeling her best. When on the pitch Francesca ensure the ball was protected, as she made a positive impacted in the rucks, in attacking and deference.

Lola completed effective tackles against both teams. Lola also made some quality runs through the oppositions defensives lines. Lola showed great resilience and determination returning to the pitch after taking a knock.

Matilda played her first game for the girl’s section; Matilda has only been playing for two weeks with the team. Within these two weeks she has shown great determination, passion and some amazing rugby skills, no doubt of following in the footsteps of many of her family.

Olivia surprised the other team with her marvellous running and supportive play. Olivia did some valuable try saving tackles, during both matches. We are super happy for Olivia to be joining the girl’s section after playing in the juniors at Paviors,

Penny was superb at calling the lines, ensure that there were enough players to cover the width of the pitch. She completed an admirable run, where she gained many meters. Penny came to the club at the start of the season but has become more confident on and off the pitch.

Vienna did some exceptional tackles and some superb runs by breaking the oppositions defensive line. Vienna show cased all the skills she has learnt over the years playing with the junior’s team at Paviors.

All the under 12’s players are committed to the game, and all of them are growing in confidence on and off on the pitch. We can’t wait to see them develop and become the pride of Paviors!
