With the climate changes we are all only too well aware of, the likelihood is that more games and training sessions might be lost to the weather. So perhaps, a little clarification is needed on how and why decisions on postponements and cancellations are made.

Rest assured no games will be postponed or training sessions cancelled unless absolutely necessary, whether due to weather or any other reasons.

The things we must consider are:

  • The current state of the pitches and any possible longer-term damage resulting in more games and training being lost. The priority is always to minimise the impact on the whole Club on the day in question and in the future.

  • The weather forecast plays a large part in the decision and while we know these are not always 100% reliable it has to play an important part in the decision making.

  • We don’t only consider the pitches but also safety of everyone getting to and from the ground and while on the ground. We have had two trees come down in the car park in the last month, one on a day when prudently we had cancelled everything. Had we not done  this, it could have resulted in significant damage to vehicles and possible injury to people.

  • We will always endeavour to make timely decisions that will not conflict with any competition regulations.

  • In poor conditions if possible we will play one game per pitch per day but never two.
