This weekend Pavs welcomed table topping Billingham RFC to The Stump in the latest round one the Regional North East One competition.Pavs made a bright start to the game. The early plaudits were shared with both sides looking to attack out wide. It was Billingham who struck first to go 7-0 up with a further score minutes later to cement their lead at 14-0. Pavs kept in the game with stylish play of their own but seemingly were punished for any error they made by the away side. Half time saw Billingham well in the lead at 28-0.In the second half Pavs continued to battle away with talented youngster Josh Alton-Smith finishing off a powerful drive by Jared Kelly to bring the score to 28-7 in favour of Billingham.Billingham recorded two more scores as Pavs tried to get back in the game. A very late try gave Billingham a finishing score of 47-7.The score itself does not really reflect the organised play and effort that the Pavs boys put into the game. Billingham are destined for National 2 rugby next year so losing to this side is no disgrace.Pavs should be buoyed by the fact that they are in a process of rebuilding and development with a number of youngsters coming to the fore, so as they say ……..
