Broadstreet RFC

36 - 7

(HT 12-7)

Paviors RFC

This weekend Pavs travelled the short distance to Warwickshire side Broad Street RFC. The reciprocal home fixture saw Pavs take the victory in a fiercely fought competitive game. Pavs were without a number of key players due to injury, but as with all these things this gave opportunities for other players to stake a claim for a spot particularly with next season in mind.

From the kick off Broad Street established a degree of dominance and went into an early 7-0 lead. Pavs fought back and went close on a number of occasions but were let down by the final pass or play being not as accurate as they should have been. Broad Street struck back to take a 12-0 after half an hour. Again Pavs displayed a degree of resilience in scoring in the final play of the half with flanker Josh Flanagan touching down and fly half Taran Elms adding the extras from out wide. 12-7 at the break and game on.

After half time Pavs unfortunately knocked on from the kick off and this resulted in an extended period of Broad Street pressure. The home side made best use of this and went further ahead at 19-7. From this time forward, Pavs were pinned back and had to defend for far too many long periods. Broad Street went further in front at 31-7 with the Pavs game plan going strangely awry. A final try rounded off a very disappointing second half. Final score 36-7 in favour of Broad Street.

Next week Pavs welcome Bromsgrove RFC to The Stump for a 3.00pm kick off.
