!! Today girls you made everyone, your teammates, coaches, parents and all at Paviors, so very very proud of you. From minute one to minute 60 you never stopped playing, that was the performance of the season for me. As Ken and me said before the game, stick to your structures, have the confidence to play with a smile on your face and the results will come. You all played so well with huge passion throughout the whole game. For me today was the culmination of all the hard work at training and the games so far this season.
Firstly special mentions to Emily W, Scarlett, Megan and Emi for playing with NE Derbys, that shows fantastic sportswomanship and demonstrates the values of our game. A huge thank you from me on behalf of the whole team. Thank you too to those of you who played out of your usual position, that shows us, the coaches, that you have versatility and the rugby ability to adapt and develop.
Our set piece was again very good, our scrums were solid and the lineout, although uncontested, were well drilled. The defence for two extended periods was outstanding, especially before half time when NE Derbys were pressing hard, and you held out to deny them the score.
Our player of the match was Millee, 110% throughout the game, whether it be in the tight or the loose, you had an absolute stormer! Those 4!!!! Tries were excellent and NE Derbys couldn’t match you! Very well done!! NE Derbys’ player of the match was Liv, huge well done to you too, you had a great game with some fantastic carries and your try.
Close on Millee’s heals were Martha with your carrying and try; Ellie D did a great job all over the field with superb tackling; Lexi - those tackles and covering runs were fantastic; Emily W and Mills again did so well; Amelie tackled hard all game with some big carries too, Frankie for carrying, rucking and tackling and Hannah directing the play those kicks at goal were great. Those are just some of the standouts, you all played really well and I hope we can start where we left off next weekend at home against Casuals, build on today and use that as a springboard for the final National Cup game on the 11th at Newark.
Honourable mentions of course must also go to Martha and Millee for scoring a try on the 5m line, easy done in the leaves and the mud! (Big laughs, can't say LOL I'm told!) LOL!!!
